LPI on aerospace and safety-critical components demands both high sensitivity and documented process traceability. ZChek-FP12 is a high sensitivity post-emulsifiable fluorescent penetrant for detecting fine discontinuities open to surface, QPL-listed to SAE AMS 2644 – removing the need for in-house qualification when working to aerospace contracts or regulated inspection programmes. It fluoresces Bright Green-Yellow with sharp indications and zero background, resists over-washing, and supports three removal processes: lipophilic emulsification (Method B, with ZChek-EF81), solvent removal (Method C, with ZChek-CL or ZChek-CR), and hydrophilic emulsification (Method D, with ZChek-EF9). The non-halogenated formula with less than 1000 ppm sulphur and chloride makes it safe for use on titanium and aluminium alloys.

Key features

  • QPL-listed to SAE AMS 2644 – no in-house qualification required
  • Bright Green-Yellow fluorescence with sharp indications and zero background
  • High sensitivity – detects fine discontinuities open to surface
  • Resists over-washing to protect tight indications
  • Compatible with Methods B, C, and D removal processes
  • Non-halogenated: less than 1000 ppm sulphur and chloride – safe on Ti and Al alloys
  • High flash point above 93°C – safe for use in all areas
  • Low odour – user friendly for enclosed inspection areas
  • Recommended dwell time: 10 minutes (extendable to 30+ minutes for critical components)
  • Available from 520 ml aerosol to 205-litre drum

Typical applications

  • Aerospace and aviation component FPI – castings, forgings, and extrusions
  • Oil and gas inspection requiring high sensitivity
  • Engineering industries – machined parts, extrusions, and fabricated structures
  • Multi-method process lines running Methods B, C, and D
  • Inspection of titanium and aluminium alloy components
  • Critical applications where QPL qualification is required by contract
