Magna-Mike 8600 Thickness Gauge

Portable and easy to use, the Magna-Mike 8600 gives instant wall-thickness readings on non-ferrous materials like plastic, glass, aluminum, copper, rubber, and composites, shown clearly on a large color display.

The Magna-Mike 8600 measures wall thickness by placing its magnetic probe on one side of the part and a small target (ball, disk, or wire) on the opposite side. The probe’s Hall-effect sensor determines the distance to the target, and the gauge displays thickness immediately. Operation is straightforward whether you scan along corners, follow complex curves, or drop a target ball inside a container.

The system includes three durable probe designs (straight, right-angle, and low-profile articulating) with replaceable wear caps, expanded target options, and a thickness range up to 25.4 mm (1.00 in.). A fast 60 Hz update rate, larger color VGA display, onboard alphanumeric data logger, USB/RS-232/VGA outputs, and MicroSD export (.txt/.csv) support efficient workflows in packaging, automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing.

Typical Applications

  • Packaging and plastic/glass containers (including corners and radii with Minimum Mode)

  • Automotive tear seams (with disks and chisel wear cap)

  • Aerospace composites and nonferrous parts (including turbine cooling holes with wire targets)

  • Rubber hoses/sheets, plastic pipes, wax molds, and nonferrous castings
