Filtertechnik’s Particle Pal range for oil and diesel fuel testing is available in the following series of units;

Portable Oil and Diesel Contamination Monitor
Particle Pal is a self-contained portable measuring system that gives ISO, NAS and SAE Particulate Cleanliness readings and Water Content analysis for Oils and Diesel Fuels. Complete with a rechargeable battery, high-pressure internal gear pump and controlled flow rate. Whether on-site or in the laboratory, the Particle Pal will provide cleanliness readings in real time to allow you to understand the condition of your oil or fuel.
Our FS9V2 units now have a single LCD showing all the connected sensors in real time. We’ve added an internal memory for capturing data with a simple USB data transfer of results which can be printed in tabular or graphical format. Also included is powerful trending software which shows real-time cleanliness data in graphical format via USB transfer to a connected PC.
Water sensors can be included to show the humidity of any oil as a % saturation. For diesel fuels, we can include genuine water parts per million (PPM) sensor. Also for fuels, we have developed a density sensor version which accurately detects the slightest change in a diesel fuel’s density which is helpful when fuel tampering is suspected.
All Particle Pal’s can draw from oil stored in tanks or from sample bottles. Alternatively, the units can analyse oils from pressurised systems via a High-Pressure adaptor which is capable of 350 Bar inlet pressures. Viscosities up to 420cst* are catered for as standard with higher viscosity oils capable of being measured if oil is pre-heated to 40-55 *C. *100cst oil at room temperature is 350cSt.

We have further developed the award-winning Particle Pal by integrating a water sensor that displays the percent saturation or relative humidity (RH) in real time.
By incorporating a state of the art water sensor into the FS9V2 compact design, you can now get instant water %saturation levels for accurate, repeatable measurement as well as the same features the new FS9V2 Particle Pal offers; ISO/NAS/SAE readouts of particulate cleanliness, memory, priming features etc.
Why is water level measurement so important?
Most oils have a maximum allowable water content level. When water levels exceed this value, whether as emulsified, entrained or free water, moisture-related problems are inevitable. Rapid oxidation, depletion of the additive package and rusting of internal components are just a few of the many issues that water in oils causes.
FS9V2-RH-HP (High-Pressure option)
The HP version of the new Particle Pal allows you to connect to a live hydraulic or lube system up to 350 Bar. The reducer valve allows oil to flow into the Particle Pal at 2 Bar.

Particle counting for oil and diesel with a water and density sensors
The Particle Pal Fuel Quality Monitor is a self-contained fuel quality testing system, complete with integral pump and governed flow rate. Whether on-site or in the laboratory, the Fuel Quality Monitor will provide instant cleanliness and density readings allowing you to determine if your fuel is within specification quickly.
Samples from a live delivery, fuel tank or sample bottles can be analysed quickly and accurately, thereby minimising the frequency of laboratory analysis. This pro-active maintenance approach is ideal for sites with multiple fuel tanks, thus making the Fuel Quality Monitor the ultimate survey and diagnostic unit.
The Fuel Quality Monitor comes with a fitted Laser Particulate Sensor, Accurate Water %RH sensor as well as a highly accurate Density Sensor that can alert to the presence of just 1% by volume of kerosene or water, some of the fluids typically substituted in diesel to save cost. It works on all diesel fuels, bunker fuel and gas oil.

A 10″ touch screen LCD allows users to view data in great detail. A zoom facility allows you to focus on specific results. Within the software we have embedded oil ageing profiles for over 500 oils. Also included is the ability to self calibrate an oil life profile should your oil not be on the database. This is a one time routine where oil is taken through a calibration cycle.

The Tan Delta Full Spectrum Holistic Oil Condition sensor monitors the overall condition of the oil giving you data with unparalleled sensitivity, accuracy and precision. This enables the oil’s remaining useful life to be calculated. The sensor works with virtually any oil, drawing on a database of over 500 common industrial oils with the ability to self calibrate.

Laser particulate counter
Our Laser Particulate Counters are accurate to within ±0.5 of an ISO code with a repeatability of ±0.1%. Reporting in ISO, SAE and NAS classes as well as giving the particle quantity counts in 4, 6, 14 and 21 micron sizes.

Water sensor
Water in oil is a contaminant that causes additive depletion, microbial growth and encourages contamination from solids. The in-built water sensor shows the humidity of any oil as a % saturation.

Case design
Lightweight and heavy duty, the outer casing is ideal for working in the field. Supplied with an accessory case containing all the equipment you need to conduct tests and self calibrate oils not on the database.

Off-site data backup
A built in SIM card provides an option for data to be automatically transferred off-site and backed up where it can be viewed at any time. Once data is logged it can be recalled at any time to build trend history.

Optional yearly licence
All new Particle Pal Life units include software updates and off-site backup licence for the first year. Every 12 months thereafter there is an optional charge for annual sensor verification/ calibration, off-site backup and software updates, including all new oils profiled.

We’ve developed a fully controllable stepper motor driven pump to deliver exact flow rates for any oil, from 1 to 2,400 cSt. The pump also allows connection to a live system up to 350bar via a high pressure adaptor.
